Guided Trips & Rates

Full Day River Trips — $575, Half Day River Trips — $450, Full Day Pyramid Lake Trips — $650.

Full Day River Trips Walk/Wade — $575

On a full day, I guide you through a complete river experience, from morning rigging to afternoon fine-tuning. We typically spend 7–8 hours on the water, with time to work on casting, reading water, presentation, and fish handling. I provide terminal tackle and flies, and can supply basic gear as needed so you can focus on fishing.

This option is best if you want to cover multiple stretches of river, build skills throughout the day, or target larger, more challenging fish. It’s ideal for anglers who are serious about learning, intermediate and advanced anglers looking to dial in local techniques, or motivated beginners who want an immersive first experience.

Half Day River Trips Walk/Wade— $450

Half day trips run about 4 hours and are focused, efficient sessions on my local rivers. I tailor the timing (morning or afternoon) to current conditions and your schedule, and we zero in on the best water available that day. I provide flies and terminal tackle, and can help with rods, reels, and waders if you need them.

This is a great choice for newer anglers, families, or anyone wanting a condensed but high-quality introduction to the area. It’s also perfect if you’re short on time, easing back into fishing, or want to tune up specific skills like nymphing, dry fly fishing, or streamer techniques without committing to a full day.

Full Day Pyramid Lake Trips — $650

Full day Pyramid Lake trips are built around chasing trophy Lahontan cutthroat in a dramatic high-desert setting. We typically spend 7–8 hours on the water, adjusting locations, techniques, and setups as conditions change. I provide flies, leaders, and indicators, and can supply ladders and basic gear so you can comfortably fish from shore or in the shallows. I also provide float tubes for the early and late seasons

This trip is best if you’re excited about hunting a few big fish rather than lots of smaller ones, and don’t mind brisk mornings, wind, and changing weather. It’s a great option for experienced anglers looking for a unique, destination-style day, as well as motivated intermediate anglers who want hands-on coaching in stillwater techniques specific to Pyramid.

Waters I Guide

These are my home waters in the Tahoe and Eastern Sierra region, and I know how they fish through all four seasons. Each river and stillwater has its own personality, prime conditions, and ideal anglers, and I tailor every trip to match current flows, weather, and your experience level. Use these notes to help you think about the kind of day you want to have on the water.

Truckee River

A classic freestone/tailwater-style river with strong flows, bouldery runs, and pocket water. The Truckee holds wild brown and rainbow trout with the chance at a true trophy. It’s primarily a walk-and-wade, year-round fishery that rewards good presentation and reading water — great for intermediate and advanced anglers looking for a challenge.

East Walker River

A true tailwater below Bridgeport Reservoir with clear, cold flows and deep pools. The East Walker is known for its strong, wild browns and rainbows that fight well above their size. Wading is the norm here, and fishing can be technical with small flies and light tippet, especially at lower flows — ideal for anglers who enjoy sight-fishing and fine-tuning their skills.

West Walker River

A pocket-water freestone that winds through a beautiful high-desert canyon along Highway 395. Expect riffles, runs, and small pools with rainbows, browns, and stocked fish depending on the season. This is a fun, forgiving walk-and-wade option that’s very beginner-friendly and perfect for anglers who want steady action in a scenic setting.

East Carson River

A larger freestone river flowing through a rugged canyon with a mix of pocket water and long runs. The East Carson offers rainbows, browns, and seasonal stocked fish, with good dry fly and nymph opportunities. Most trips are walk-and-wade, with some stretches better suited to confident waders — a great choice for anglers who want a mix of scenery, solitude, and varied water.

A smaller, easy-to-wade freestone with meadow sections and roadside access. It sees a mix of wild and stocked trout, and often fishes well with dries and simple nymph rigs. Pyramid Lake

A high-desert alkaline lake and home of the famous Lahontan cutthroat trout, including truly large fish. We typically fish from ladders or from shore with shooting heads and indicator setups, depending on conditions. Pyramid is best for anglers who are excited about fewer but bigger bites, can handle cool and windy weather, and want a unique, bucket-list stillwater experience.
